I have been a photography enthusiast ever since I was a young man. Having honed my skills with a Nikon 35mm film camera, my first digi camera was a Kodak Easyshare DX6490 which at the time of 2004 was a gem with a 10x optical zoom and boasting 10MP. Nikon D5100
upper-entry-level DSLR camera. Up from the D3100 and superseding the
Nikon D5000, it comes with a
16.2MP CMOS sensor similar to the
professional sensor found in the
D7000. 1080p movie capability is also a feature of this wonderful
DSLR and with its side articulated
921k dot 3.0” tilt/swivel LCD screen, capturing professional images and video has never been more enjoyable. The new
D5100 also has the ability to apply special processing filters to stills and video. This
DSLR also has an external ME-1 microphone which aids the video capture capability.
The
price of the D5100 is such that it fits snugly between the beginner
DSLR D3100 and the upper end
D7000. Although the
D5100 has a very similar
CMOS sensor to the
D7000, it does not come with
wireless flash control, magnesium build or a 39-point AF system that the
D7000 comes with however the image quality is easily as good as the
D7000. One thing to remember with Nikon is that although the
D5100 is listed as having an
Expeed 2 processor, Nikon does not use this naming system to denote any specific components, therefore the actual pieces of silicon and its capabilities are not automatically the same as those found in the
D3100 or
D7000. Like the
D7000, the
D5100 provides the identical settings as those found in its big brother with the highest setting ISO of 25,600. Nikon has with the
D5100 brought the
D7000’s 14-bit raw shooting capabilities closer to the lower end market. It is this feature that gave the
D7000 and indeed gives the
D5100 its impressive dynamic range.

This removes the need for the user to mess around with Photoshop. At 10 mega-pixels the sensor is more than adequate and with a 10x zoom the only poor point is that high definition video is not available.

Getting your hands on the 4th of July camera deals is a snitch. Amazon sell many cameras during the 4th of July festivites. You can see their massive range here. . A camera that is making headlines since its launch is the Canon Rebel T3i which brings Canons consumer level DSLR a number of steps closer to that of the mid level Canon 60D. The 4th of July would not be the same without photos of the family using this great entry level DSLR. Canon has introduced a rear rotating LCD screen, remote flash firing and in-camera processing functionality. The inclusion of many of the features of the older Rebel T2i and 60D make this camera a great buy for the 4th of July make it more difficult to decide which camera to choose. There are a number of slight differences between the Canon Rebel T2i and T3i that although subtle may make you decide on the Rebel 3i. The Rebel T2i contains many of the functions of the 60D including the 18MP sensor, 63-zone exposure metering system, high end ISO performance, HD movies with a DIGIC 4 image processor. The new Canon Rebel T3i combines all the functions of the 60D T2i and even some from the professional 7D. The Rebel T3i replaces the T2i and if you own a T2i, upgrading to the T3i will only give you a slight edge. You will be able to take the same pictures with the same quality as both cameras have identical 18MP sensors and DIGIC 4 processors. The only real difference is a slightly large camera body as a result of the addition of a rotating rear LCD screen. The 4th of July parties will be captured with the same image quality on both of these cameras. The only real difference is the new screen on the t3I and its ability to remotely control multiple off camera flashes. In the same way you can use the integrated flash to initiate other Canon Speedlites, the T3i is also capable of this functioning.
The 4th of July images you capture with the T3i will blow you away and have your friends believing your photography skills are more advanced. The T3i includes Canons Scene Intelligent Auto Mode, a function that is easy to use and taken from point and shoot cameras. The Auto-Mode allows the camera to determine what type of picture you are taking and automatically configure the camera settings. The T3i also includes in-camera processing Creative Filters that while not essential in this upgrade do provide a valuable function.
So in summary the Rebel T3i brings a number of features that were not available on the Rebel T2i. If you’re looking for a good entry level DSLR camera, the T3i is a great entry level option.
